The UK IT Association (UKITA) was established as the private sector organisation responsible for the development of a credible and thriving IT industry across the United Kingdom. Tracing its roots back to 1999, the name: United Kingdom IT Association (UKITA) was formally adopted in 2006.
The primary focus of the organisation is to encourage the growth of small and medium sized businesses (SME's) through the delivery of business networking opportunities and by promoting the credentials and image of the industry in general. It is an elite band of some of the finest IT specialists in the UK. Member companies work together across a variety of product and service sectors, providing a high quality and sustainable service and value for money solutions.
UKITA Geography
UKITA operates in Regional Clusters, which coincide with the Regional Development Areas (RDAs) of England plus Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This will change to reflect the areas of the new Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). Within the regions/LEPs are County or City-specific Branches. Each branch consists of member companies from all areas of the IT industry, from web design to robotics and artifical intelligence. Membership is open to anyone involved in the delivery of ICT products and services, to those working within the ICT sector, and those who provide products and services to the ICT sector.
Governance
The UK IT Association is a company limited by guarantee and operates as a Trade Association with project-delivery capabilities. UKITA is a member of the Trade Association Forum (TAF).
The board of UKITA is elected from the membership at our AGM which is open to all Association members.
