About UKITA

The UK IT Association (UKITA) was established as the private sector organisation responsible for the development of a credible and thriving IT industry across the United Kingdom. Tracing its roots back to 1999, the name: United Kingdom IT Association (UKITA) was formally adopted in 2006.



Mission Statement:

UKITA's Objectives are

  • To create and grow the United Kingdom IT Association by developing a national infrastructure in all regions of the United Kingdom.
  • To preserve Association as independent and self-financing.
  • The enablement of region-wide networks to support regional efforts on ICT and e-business
  • Helping to raise the quality, standards and image of ICT suppliers and the supply chain.
  • Support the development of SME’s through the provision of quality ICT suppliers and supply chain.
  • Raise consumer confidence through the adoption of a national Quality Mark for online products and services.
  • Increase business opportunities to all of our Members, directly or via collaborations.
  • Input to national, regional and international policy development wherever possible


Focus

The primary focus of the organisation is to encourage the growth of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) through the delivery of business opportunities, tenders and projects and by promoting the members businesses. We also provide services around marketing for IT and digital businesses of all sizes.

In addition to promoting our members interests and success, we work to promote the credentials and image of the industry in general and our members are bound by a Code of Conduct which is designed to protect the IT customer or client and to drive up the standard of professionalism across our sector. we operate an optional Quality Mark (QM) scheme for members whereby a number of quality aspects and parameters are assessed and succesful applicants are then able to use a QM logo and online certificate.

It is an elite band of some of the finest IT specialists in the UK. Member companies can choose work together across a variety of product and service sectors, providing a high quality and sustainable service and value for money solutions within the protective environment of our members 'Code of Conduct.


UKITA Geography

UKITA operates across the UK and has a presence in Europe through its membership (and current Presidency) of PIN SME, which is the EU 'club' of organisations which engage with the small and medium-sized IT and digital sector in each EU member State.

 


Governance

The UK IT Association is a company limited by guarantee and operates as a Trade Association with project-delivery capabilities. UKITA is a member of the Trade Association Forum ( TAF), which was established by the CBI in 1997 and is administered by it.

The board of UKITA is elected from the membership at our AGM which is open to all Association members with at least 12 months membership.
