ICT Conference 2009
Thursday, 10 September 2009 00:00

The ICT Conference, now in its sixth year, is one of the region's most important ICT events and takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, on Tuesday 10 November 2009. This is your opportunity to share in what has happened, be part of what is happening and influence the future direction in one of the fastest growing industry sectors.

Hosted by Stuart Linnell MBE, this exciting event provides SMEs with unrivalled access to technology partners, thought leaders, business innovators and support organisations. SMEs will learn how they can innovate and take away tools and techniques to implement within their own business.

Inspiration

This year's keynote speaker, Vicky Reeves, MD of Chameleon Net, will share her journey from the corporate boardroom to entrepreneurial innovator and successful SME business pioneer. Vicky, voted Best Woman in Technology (small business category) at the 2006 Women in Technology Awards, will inspire you to innovate your way to success.

Innovation

Peter Cochrane chairs the Innovation in Action session, showcasing interactive technology demonstrations from four SMEs who have succeeded in the current climate, followed by a facilitated Q&A session on the demonstrations. Hear from David Bott (Head of Technology at the Technology Strategy Board) on supporting innovative SMEs, whilst Nigel Shanahan, MD of Rapide Communication, last year's ICT Excellence Overall Champion will speak on Web 2.0 and Secrets to Success.

Industry Expertise

Clive Harris (Chief Innovation Officer, IBM Global Services) focuses on making the right technology investments from an SME perspective. Anne Glover (Chair of the Technology Strategy Board and co-founder and CEO of Amadeus Capital Partners) will give the afternoon keynote presentation entitled Right Investment, Right Time, Right Now.

In the workshops experts advise on driving business efficiency, productivity and customer service through Unified Communications; how information security can help balance investment against the chances of disaster; accessing regional resources to support your innovation; and exploring opportunities in the new technology paradigm around Cloud Services and the SME. Experts in the EU workshops can improve your chances of obtaining some of the £9 billion of EU funding and realise the exciting opportunities for exploitation of the Internet of the Future EU Programme.

Exhibition

The exhibition provides a range of support for ICT businesses with expert advice on funding, support and emerging technologies.

The ICT Excellence Awards

The fifth Annual ICT Excellence Awards will once again be held as a separate event in the evening after the Conference closes. The Awards celebrate the achievements of the region’s most successful ICT businesses and are supplemented this year with the Technology Strategy Board's Special Award, recognising and rewarding High Growth Potential.
