About UKITA
About UKita
Wednesday, 06 May 2009 10:32

The West Midlands IT Association (WMita) was established as the private sector organisation responsible for the development of a credible and thriving IT industry within the West Midlands. Building on this success the United Kingdom IT Association (UKITA) was launched in 2006.

The primary focus of the organisation is to encourage the growth of small and medium sized businesses (SME's) through the provision of training, the delivery of business networking opportunities and by promoting the credentials and image of the industry in general.  It is an elite band of some of the finest IT specialists in the region.  Member companies work together across a variety of product and service sectors, providing a high quality and sustainable service and value for money solutions.

UKita was originally created through the forming of regional IT networking groups, to form a region-wide body for IT companies, meaning that the members are at the very heart of the association. You can view details of the history of UKITA here.

UKita regions
UKita is composed of six regional branches from the West Midlands, and branches exist in other parts of the UK including the East Midlands branch.  Each branch consists of member companies from all areas of the IT industry, from web design to robotics and artifical intelligence.
Membership is open to anyone involved in the delivery of ICT products and services, to those working within the ICT sector, and those who provide products and services to the ICT sector
.

The ICT Cluster
UKita was one of several regional projects within the Advantage West Midlands ICT Cluster, designed to put the region at the forefront of ICT.

Be at the forefront of Information & Communication Technology - be part of UKITA, the voice of ICT in the region.

UKita was established with the financial support of Advantage West Midlands.

UKita works closely with Business Link to help implement the regional IT strategy - and help SME's succeed.

Sunday, 03 May 2009 14:42

We have a good track record of working collaboratively with:

Regional Development Agencies

Our members are the more forward-looking and uprawardly mobile IT and ICT players in the marketplace and our events and mailings are an excellent way to attract and communicate with these companies.

Universities

KPNs, Innovation networks and other University-led proejcts are a natutal collaboration partner for UKITA  and our members include University spinout companies. Many of our events are held at University facilities and they provide an excellent mechanism for engagement with the local IT SME supplier community.

Business Support Agencies

For instance Business Link West Midlands and Business Lilnk in the East Midlands have attended and co-presented events to our members at which they have been able to present and explain theri range of business support services and interventions to good effect.

We can introduce RDAs, Universities and Business Support Agenceies to countrparts in other regions in order to here at first-hand what benefits you can expect from working with UKITA and our members.
